Backfire through carb on hard acceleration

Firing before the valve is closed is timing too far advanced. Your going to want about 35 degrees total advance at WOT which does not inlcude vacuum advance. I have an Edelbrock 1406 on my R2 with 98 jets in the front and 92's in the rear. You should see two solid streams of raw gas, one in ech primary barrel of the carb. If yu have a weak or sputting stream, replace the accerlator pump. The engine pulls hard on acceleration and runs excellent at a steady speed. We have changed the dist advance but that doesn't seem to effect the carb backfire. Could this be a valve problem? Loss In Engine Power, Every explosion in the combustion chamber results in generating power for rotating the engine shaft. After running for three to four minutes the backfiring stops and the engine runs fine. My engine is a 347 stroker, 35 lb injectors and 58 psi fuel pressure. The cam is a Comp XFI236HR.
